Tom Knight – Ceramic

Tom describes his current work as "Color fusion” while , exploring how different glazes overlap and melt together to makedifferent colors. He begins with what he calls a "blank canvas" of white porcelain clay, while striving for simplicity of form and functional perfection. All pieces are made on a potter’s wheel and fired at a high temperature in a gas kiln. With each firing he performs a test of newcolors, with the goal of making useful things that are beautifully unique. After more than thirty years on thepotter’s wheel, Tom is still excited to see what the fire has done at each kiln opening.
